Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Pakistan Vice Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama on Monday called on Pakistan Navy chief Admiral Amjad Niazi at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.

According to the Navy’s Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR), the two “dignitaries discussed matters related to mutual interests, regional security & bilateral collaborations”.

The visit comes a day after Wijewickrama, while addressing members of the business community, during his visit to Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), observed the two countries shared deep historical, cultural and trade ties.

“The volume of bilateral trade between the two countries, which is currently close to $450million, could be increased to $2 billion,” he had said.

Trade relations could be further strengthened in many areas as there is a huge potential for developing partnerships in trade, investment and industry within various sectors including textiles, construction materials, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, tourism and education, he had added.(Pakistan Today)
