More rains likely due to atmospheric disturbance

Showery conditions over the island were expected to bring rains exceeding 100mm in coming days, Department of Meteorology said today.

It said this was due to the atmospheric disturbance developing to the Southeast of Sri Lanka. 

“Showers are expected particularly in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central and Uva beginning from tomorrow,” the department said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Eastern, Northern, North-central and Uva provinces.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North-central provinces during the morning.

High-speed winds which could run up 70kmph is expected in the sea around the country. Fishermen were warned to be vigilant in this regard.

Meanwhile, sluice gates of Rajangane, Angamuwa Oya and Deduru Oya have been opened.

Landslides warnings have also been issued to Kegalle, Ratnapura and Badulla districts. (Yohan Perera)
