Mobile company marketing officer arrested for cyber sexual exploitation of schoolgirls

A marketing officer of a leading mobile company in the country had been arrested in connection with the cyber sexual exploitation of several school girls.

Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said that a principal of a school in Pitabeddara had lodged a complaint with the Police.

The Matara Division Children and women Bureau launched an investigation into the incident.

It was revealed that the suspect has obtained the phone numbers of school girls and they were informed by the perpetrator that they would be given Zoom packages and Facilities.

Later, the girls have been sexually exploited through the internet and girls’ nude pictures have been obtained by the perpetrator.

The suspect, a 28-year-old identified as a resident of Thambuththegama, had been working in the mobile company since two years ago.

He would be produced before the Morawaka Magistrate’s Court.

Investigations are underway to ascertain whether the suspect was involved with such sexually abuse incidents in other areas of the country.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
