The Cabinet has decided to suspend the tea promotion and marketing tax for six months, Minister of Plantation Industries Co- Cabinet Spokesman Ramesh Pathirana said.
The Minister said at a Cabinet news briefing at the Government Information Department today (18) that the promotion and Sales Tax of Rs 3.50 per kilo of tea exported would be suspended for six months.
The Minister said that the decision was taken considering the impact on the tea industry due to the Covid-19 situation in the country.
