A 29-year-old man had gone missing after he jumped into the Bolgoda river in Bandaragama to save a girl, who had attempted suicide by jumping into the river, the Police said.
They said that the girl had jumped into the river from the Bolgoda bridge on the Bandaragama-Panadura Road this morning.
The man, a resident of Wellanthuduwa, Bandaragama had gone missing since the time he jumped into the river to rescue her.
Residents had rescued the girl and admitted to the Panadura Hospital.
Search operations are underway to find the missing man.
