Madush appeals deportation: Dubai Court’s decision on May 2

A Dubai Court has reportedly postponed till May 2 to announce a decision on an appeal filed by alleged drug kingpin Makandure Madush on his deportation, sources said.

It is learnt that the lawyers of Madush have requested the court to deport him to any country other than Sri Lanka, when the case was taken up for hearing today.

Accordingly, the court has decided to announce its decision on the appeal on May 2. In the appeal, the lawyers reportedly requested the Court to deport him (Madush) to any other country except Sri Lanka if possible.

Notorious underworld drug kingpin Makandure Madush and many other Sri Lankans involved in drug smuggling were arrested in Dubai on February 5.

Singer Amal Perera, his son Nadeemal and actor Ryan Van Royan were also among those arrested.

Amal Perera’s son, Ryan, relatives of Madush and several others who were arrested in Dubai were deported to Sri Lanka on several occasions by the Dubai authorities.

Some of the deported including Amal’s son were released while some others including the actor were detained by the Sri Lankan law enforcement authorities.
