Look for Rajitha at MR’s residence: Anura tells CID

National People’s Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today the CID should search Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s residence if it was keen to locate former minister Rajitha Senaratne.

He told a news conference that the CID’s failure to arrest Mr. Senaratne proved that the government was having a hand in this matter.

“We feel sorry for the CID which is unable to locate Rajitha. I think they should first search the Prime Minister’s residence. There is a travel ban on Rajitha. CID should be able to trace Rajitha’s whereabouts - if not, it means the government is in some way involved in this matter,’ he said.

When asked about Opposition’s claims that there was a political witch-hunt against opposition MPs Mr. Dissanayake said it is sure that there was politics involved in this rather than a political witch-hunt.

“Some politicians like ministers and state ministers are suddenly released from cases while some others are suddenly arrested. Cases of some others put off for several years. It is clear that there is politics behind this,” he said.
