A lobby group in Sri Lanka has threatened to go to courts to get a certain type of COVID-19 vaccine banned in Sri Lanka, it was reported yesterday.
Attorney-at-law and a member of the Committee to Reduce COVID deaths, Chanaka Abeywickrama said his organization will take legal action if COVID 19 vaccines produced based on MRNA mechanism is administered to children.
"Given the danger of vaccinating children with MRNA vaccines, they will take legal action if the government forces parents, he said. Attorneyat-law, Abeywickrama said that the WHO has not said to vaccinate children with one vaccine brand. There are several options available for the people including indigenous medical methods, he said.
Abeywickrama said that it has become obvious that the vaccination process, especially inoculating children, has become a profitmaking enterprise. In recent months there have been many reports of adverse side effects of Pfizer for children and that the efficacy of this vaccine wanes after six months.
"So, do we have to get boosters once in six months? This is obviously a business ploy by the American company and some close business associates of the government have also realized this. This is why they are insistent that we inject people, especially children with MRNA vaccines. The government has to give options to the people, if the government decides to force people to vaccinate their kids, we will take legal action," he said. "Initially the health officials insisted that children will be vaccinated after a study and a pilot project. However, the people were not told whether such initiatives were taken to ensure that the MRNA vaccines are safe for children,” he said.(Yohan Perera)
