Laws will be strictly implemented in 19 police areas in Gampaha and Negombo, where police curfew has been imposed, from today, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Accordingly, vehicles are not allowed to park besides main roads and buses are not allowed to load and unload passengers.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Police Headquarters today, DIG Rohana said these laws will be implemented in Gampaha, Yakkala and Nittambuwa police areas on the Kandy-Colombo Main Road and Kandana, Seeduwa and Ja-Ela police areas on the Negombo Main Road.

However, long-distance buses are allowed to pass through the curfew imposed areas.

Vehicles are only allowed to park if they are transporting the students who are sitting for the G.C.E Advanced Level examination.

“Restrictions do not apply for the students sitting for the Advanced Level examination,” the spokesman added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
