Final rites of three Sri Lankan migrant workers died last week in South Korea have been conducted in Korea itself due to COVID-19 related health concerns, Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB) confirmed to Daily Mirror.
The three funerals have been conducted in Korea in compliance with international quarantine regulations.
The decision was taken by the Sri Lankan Embassy in South Korea after family members of the deceased in Sri Lanka had given their consent, understanding the current situation, the SLFEB Foreign Relations Division said.
The deaths of the three Sri Lankan migrant workers were reported within the span of a week and were related to murder, accidental fall to death while under the influence of alcohol, and suicide.
All of them were employed in Korea under the Employment Permit System (EPS) in low-skilled jobs. (Piyumi Fonseka)
