Largest ever stock of methamphetamine pills detected at CME

A 52-year-old building contractor from Mount Lavinia was today arrested by Customs officers when he arrived at the Colombo Central Mail Exchange (CME) to collect methamphetamine pills worth Rs. 27 million. 

Acting Customs Spokesman Lal Weerakoon said the suspect had arrived at the CME this morning to collect six parcels containing 5,500 drug pills which had been hidden inside subwoofers. 

The packages had been received at the CME from Belgium. The spokesman said the seized stock of methamphetamine pills was the largest ever methamphetamine pills detection recovered by Customs in the country. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya and T.K.G. Kapila)
