A 54-year-old Sri Lankan-born Canadian passenger died after having collapsed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning.
The victim named Buddika Karunarathne was a resident of the Beddagana area.
He had arrived at the airport this morning (2:18 am) with his mother from Qatar.
The Katunayake airport police said the man died after a suspected cardiac arrest while he was accompanying his mother from Canada to Sri Lanka and while walking through the exit lounge from the airport arrival terminal.
The body of the victim was handed over to the Negombo hospital and a post-mortem will be conducted by the hospital to ascertain the exact cause of death. (T.K.G. Kapila)
