Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA) President Gemunu Wijeratne today said the majority of members in his association had decided to support the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror he said the decision was taken following a meeting with the presidential candidate this evening.

“We explained to Mr.Gotabaya Rajapaksa about the current situation of the bus service. We raised our concerns with him to get favourable solutions. He listened to all our requests and said the transport sector in the country should be developed,” he said.

No other government ever listened to our problems. Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the only person who listened to our issues.

He assured us that he would curb the corruption in the private bus sector and would develop it.

Therefore, as an association, we decided to support the presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the upcoming presidential election, Mr. Wijeratne said.

UPFA MP Susil Premajayantha too participated at the meeting. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
