The staff of the Kurunegala Hospital had decided not to give evidence before the committee-which was appointed by Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne- to probe the allegations against Dr Siyabdeen  Mohamed Safi.

The decision had been conveyed in writing to the Hospital Director by the organization called “Organization to Protect Kurunegala Hospital”.

Spokesman for the Organization Dr Indika Ratnayake said they had no faith in the committee appointed by Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne.

He said however, they were ready to give evidence before a committee appointed by the President.

The committee which includes six members arrived at the hospital today but none of the hospital staff offered to give evidence before the committee.(Pushpakumara Jayaratne)
