The Kaduwela Interchange of the Southern Expressway (E-01) which was closed due to COVID-19 threat has been reopened to traffic this morning, Acting Director of the Operation Maintenance and Management Division of the Road Development Authority Nihal Lodwick said.
He told the Daily Mirror that the Kottawa entrance was also opened for essential services with a minimum number of attendees.
Ordinary passengers would not be able to enter or exit the Southern Expressway from the Kottawa entrance.
The Imaduwa, Kotelawala and Welipenna interchanges also closed due to the same reason.
Meanwhile, the Kaduwela Interchange was closed with immediate effect after several employees tested positive. Mr. Ludowyke said several employees at Athurugiriya, Kotalawala and Kaduwela exit points were tested positive. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
