Former Additional Secretary to the Labour Ministry, T.M. Jayasiri Wijenath Thennakoon has been appointed as the new Prisons Commissioner-General, the Justice and Prison Reforms Ministry said.
It said the Cabinet approved the appointment and that Mr. Thennakoon replaced Nishan Dhanasinghe who functioned in the post since November 2015.
Mr. Thennakoon will assume duties as the Prisons Commissioner-General next week.(DS)
