Jaffna-Chennai air services from Nov.10: CAA

Commercial air services between Jaffna International Airport (JAF) and Chennai International Airport (MAA) will commence from November 10, the Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority said.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Director-General H.M.C Nimalsiri said the air service would start according to a specific time table given by Alliance Air, the subsidiary of Air India.

According to them, a daily flight service would be operated between the airports.

"The ticket fare between Jaffna and Chennai has been announced and it would be Rs.15, 690 for a one-way ticket. From Chennai to Jaffna it would be 7,879 in Sri Lanka rupees," he said.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's domestic airline Fits Aviation (Pvt) Ltd, also announced the operations of three flight services per week between Jaffna International Airport and Tiruchirappalli International Airport (TRZ), in India from November 10.

The air service between Jaffna and Chennai will take between 32 and 50 minutes.

People can reserve their air tickets from the respective websites of the airlines through the ticket booking agencies. Visas would be obtained from the Consulate General Office under the High Commission of India, Jaffna. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
