Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will field its own candidate for next presidential election, JVP Politbureau member K D Lal Kantha said today.
He told a news conference that they would reveal their candidate by earlier next month.
“We will launch a national movement by early next month to stand for peoples’ rights and issues. We, JVP will also be a part of it. Our next presidential candidate will be someone who is in the national movement. He will be from our Politbureau. Our supporters claim that the presidential candidate should be someone from the JVP saying that they cannot rely on others,’ he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)
