IGP sent on compulsory leave

Following the appointment of C.D. Wickremeratne as the acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Pujith Jayasundara has been sent on compulsory leave, sources said.

It was reported that the Law and Order Ministry has ordered that the IGP be sent on compulsory leave.

After the Easter Sunday attacks on April 21, President Maithripala Sirisena asked the IGP to resign.

However, IGP Jayasundara rejected the President’s request. (Darshana Sanjeewa)
