Huawei agrees to promote distance education facilities in schools: Edu. Minister

The Huawei Technologies Company, Ltd. has agreed to provide free pieces of equipment and accessories to schools in the country to promote distance education facilities through the internet, Education Minister Prof. G.L. Pieris said. 

Huawei Technologies is a Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment and services giant, headquartered in Guangdong, China. 

This was revealed at a special meeting held at the Ministry recently. He said Huawei had agreed to provide 30,000 accessibility devices (Access Points) for easy access for school children to obtain  internet facilities.

"Making the learning and teaching process mutually effective, providing internet facilities to schools is a timely and essential step," the Minister said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
