House of Madush’s shooter raided: Army uniforms, ammo found

A 53-year-old man was arrested along with a stock of army uniforms and ammunition at a house belonging to a shooter of Makandure Madush in Kamburupitiya this morning, police said.

They said the house of Madush’s shooter was searched this morning and recovered the stock of army uniforms and 21 rounds of ammunition used for T-56 rifles.

The 53-year-old father of the suspect was arrested for interrogation.

A handcuff believed to have been used in the Rs.70 million-gem robbery in Pannipitiya was also recovered in the house.

Army caps, symbols and buttons were also recovered along with the stock of uniforms.

Police said the shooter, who is a lance corporal attached to the Sapugaskanda Army Camp, is absconding. (Krishan Jeewaka Jayaruk)
