A house in the Colombo 06 area was sealed earlier today after two people, who had recently returned from India were taken by a team of PHI officers and police, to the isolation center or hospital, eyewitnesses said.

A medical team had arrived at the house, in the early hours and had taken the couple, after which the entire house was disinfected and sealed.

It is still unsure if the patients were confirmed to be infected by the coronavirus.

The Police have issued a warning to all those who have returned back to the country after March 16 to register at the nearest police station or face arrest.

A grace period has been issued to register till April 1, with the police warning that if returnees fail to register, they will never be able to leave the country again.

Military sources told Daily Mirror that medical officers, military and police were on the hunt for isolated cases which posed the biggest threat at the moment and so far a few had been detected and had been transported to hospitals. (Jamila Husain)
