Hejaz Hizbullah’s detention extended by another three months: CID tells Magistrate

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today informed Colombo Fort Magistrate that the Ministry of Defence had approved the detention and interrogation of Attorney-at-Law Hejaz Hizbullah who is currently being questioned by the CID over the Easter Sunday suicide attack, for another three months.

When the case was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyatha Liyanage, the CID also informed that Hezbullah had currently infected with COVID-19 and said further investigations are being carried out on the incident.

Having produced the PCR report, the CID told the Magistrate that a group of suspects are infected with COVID-19 including underworld kingpin Kosgoda Tharaka, who is currently being interrogated.  

The CID informed the Court that  Hezbullah is currently receiving treatment at the Kalutara Police Training College, COVID-19 treatment centre, under  supervision of the CID.(Yoshitha Perera)
