Guidelines on reopening Primary Schools directed to Edu. Ministry

The relevant recommendations required to re-commence Grade five and classes below that have been handed over to the Secretary to the Education Ministry.

Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardana said it has been decided to reopen schools under different stages according to which, schools where there are students numbering below 200 would be reopened for those children studying in Grade five and classes below grade 5.  

“However, if schools are to be reopened, the country has to be reopened first,”

“Accordingly, the schools for the children in the said classes would be reopened once the quarantine curfew is lifted as per the decisions taken by the Education Ministry,” he said.
