The Government has decided to continue with cremation of bodies of Covid-19 victims, until the final report of the committee appointed to study the matter is finalized, Director General of Health Services said.
He said the decision was made following the request made by the expert committee to the Secretary to the Health Ministry.
The special committee was appointed to look into how the last rites of those who fall victim to Covid-19, are conducted following the grievances of of Muslims.
Earlier, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said a expert committee would be appointed to look into the conduct of last rites of those who succumb to Covid-19. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
