The Government does not believe proscribing Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Organisation is a good move, Education Minister G.L. Pieris said.

While addressing the media yesterday at the Ministry he said some recommendations found in the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) into the Easter Sunday attacks are difficult to implement

"Especially, implementing those recommendations mentioned in the report regarding BBS is difficult. The Government has some discretion in this regard and does not agree with that," the Minister said.

However, other recommendations in the report are better to implement and they are useful.

"Extremist ideologies have been included in the school syllabus and those should be removed. There should be a control over 'Madrasas, teachers and the subject contents.," the Minister said.

Therefore, the Education Ministry is hoping to implement those recommendations with immediate effect, he said.

"This report gives us a very clear picture of the steps that are to be taken in the field of education with valuable guidelines. The Government's responsibility is to implement these recommendations.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) and the police should act immediately in this regard. We have a clear vision than earlier," Minister Pieris said.

Fulfilling those recommendations is the responsibility of the Government and we will do it, Minister added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
