The Education Ministry has decided not to transfer teachers in the same way as public servants but to place them appropriately, focusing on student needs, Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

He said this while attending the presentation of the draft of the main plan for digital education.

"If teachers are transferred in the same way as public servants are transferred, the problems will occur in covering the subjects for the children," the Minister said.

The minister mentioned that many administrative issues, such as placements, teacher unions, and transfer board conflicts, have arisen due to the lack of use of technology in administration.

"Although the technology has been introduced for a long time, it has not been used properly. We are far behind technologically on the eve of the next industrial revolution," he said.

He also mentioned that in the future, beyond the reforms, more measures will be implemented in education with the aim of a transformative change.

Therefore, there should be a revolutionary technical and administrative change with immediate effect. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
