Gazette issued banning hand sanitizers not registered with NMRA

An extraordinary Gazette notification was issued prohibiting the import, holding in stocks or retailing of hand sanitizer products which are not registered with the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) from today. 

The Gazette notification was issued by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Chairman Maj. Gen. Shantha Dissanayake (Retd.)

According to the Gazette notification, the CAA directs that no importer, manufacturer, distributor or trader of Hand Sanitizers shall import, manufacture, store, distribute or display for sale, expose or offer for sale, wholesale or retail any Hand Sanitizers unless such Hand Sanitizer is registered with the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) and the registration number is displayed in a conspicuous place of the pack or the container of such Hand Sanitizer.
