The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has cancelled the scheduled strike which was to be held tomorrow (10) following a successful discussion held with the Public Service Commission and Health Ministry officials today.

Addressing a press briefing, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said the Public Service Commission had agreed to immediately suspend the Post Internship appointment list 2017 and re-prepare the list with the participation of the transfer board which includes the GMOA.

Dr. Aluthge said the union had also pointed out malpractices carried out by Health Ministry officials which had created serious issues.

He said the Health Secretary who also participated in the discussion agreed to redo the list immediately and activate the special appeal transfer board twice a year.

Therefore, he said that the scheduled strike was cancelled under the agreement made by the union with the Health Ministry and the Public Service Commission. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)
