Four more succumb to Covid-19; toll mounts to 34

Four more persons succumbed to the coronavirus taking the death toll to 34, the Government Information Department said.

It said three females aged 42,69, 88 and males aged 67 are among the victims of Covid-19.

They were residents of Maligawatte, Wellampitiya and Ganemulla respectively.

The 42-year old female and 67 two-year-old were reported dead at their residences while the other two patients succumbed to coronavirus on admission to the National Hospital, Colombo and the Laggala Pallegama District Hospital.

Three of them died due to Covid-19 pneumonia condition while another died due to the infection of the virus along with a heart attack. 

Deceased individuals' details

1. The deceased is a 42-year old female from Maligawatta, Colombo 10. She has a long history of heart disease. She died at her home and the cause of death is mentioned as Covid-19 infection with heart disease.

2. The deceased is a 69-year old female from Maligawatta, Colombo 10. She had been suffering from a number of chronic diseases. Due to exacerbation of those diseases she has admitted to the National Hospital Colombo where she died. The cause of death is defined as an exacerbation of pneumonia due to Covid-19 infection.

3. The deceased is a 67-year old male from Wellampitiya. He had been suffering from a number of chronic diseases. He had been suffering from fever for a few days before he died at home. The cause of death is defined as an exacerbation of pneumonia due to Covid-19 infection.

4. The deceased is an 88-year old female from Ganemulla. She is a close associate of an infected person reported from Minuwangoda. During the quarantine, she was identified as an infected and was admitted to the Laggala Pallegama Hospital. She was transferred to the Angoda Infectious Disease Hospital due to an exacerbation of her illness and died there. The Cause of death is Covid pneumonia and Blood poisoning.(Sheain Fernandopulle)
