A group of four Sri Lankan fishermen who  set sail on September 25, 2022 on board FV Neil Mary have been rescued by the Indian coast guard after they lost communication, Daily Mirror learns .

They met with it when they were sailing towards the East for their catch but got lost in the seas.

The group reached out to  various vessels and boats and eventually reached close to Andaman and Nicobar Islands where the Indian Coast Guard  extended all assistance to them and brought them to the Indian shores.

“They are now being taken care of by the Indian authorities and  Sri Lankan authorities have been contacted in order to expedite their repatriation back to Sri Lanka. The families of the Sri Lankan fishermen who were lost in the sea for 63 days were rejoiced at this news and are eagerly waiting for the family reunion. Indian naval assests have been of great value to the people of Sri Lanka including the fishermen on multiple occasions. It was the Indian Navy and Coast Guard which rushed with assistance and support in case of marine disasters caused by MT New Diamond and MV Xpress Pearl in 2020 and 2021 respectively,” an informed source said.
