Former MP Mastan instructed to self-quarantine

Former UPFA Wanni District MP Cadar Mastan has been instructed by the Public Health Inspectors to self-quarantine after he had attended a funeral held at Tharapuram in Mannar which was also attended by a patient who had tested positive for the COVID-19.

A resident of Puttalam had attended the funeral on March 18 after returning from Indonesia. He was later tested positive for the virus.  Accordingly, the PHIs had instructed Mr. Mastan to undergo self-quarantine at his home.

The Tharapuram area where the funeral was held had been isolated now and the PHIs have instructed the attendees of the funeral to undergo self-quarantine.

Mr. Mastan said he is in self-quarantine at his home in Suseipilleyar, Vavuniya following the instructions of the PHIs and the Vavuniya Police.


He said it has been 21 days since he attended the funeral with his brother but said him, his brother and the two ministerial security personnel who went to the funeral are in self-quarantine since the COVID-19 patient was found recently.(Sithum Chaturanga)
