Electoral Organisers of the organisation for the protection of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have decided to support Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) headed by Opposition Leader and Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) Sajith Premadasa at the upcoming Parliamentary election.
A group from the organisation has had talks with Mr Premadasa at the Opposition Leaders' office in this regard recently.
A number of former SLFP electorate and District organisers including M. Amjad (Beruwala), Bandara Athukorala (Kegalle District), Jayalath Bandara (Anuradhapura), Sanjaya Siriwardena (Mirigama ), Shantha Ratnayaka (Kolonna), Upali Chandrasena (Rakwana) and former Southern Provincial Counselor Amarasiri Kuruwage had participated at the meeting.
These and several other former SLFP organisers had opposed the SLFP joining the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) from the beginning and after the party decided to be a part of the SLPP led coalition, Sri Lanka Nidhahas Podujana Sandanaya (SLNPS) they have decided to sever links with the SLFP.
Accordingly, they have decided to support Samagi Jana Balavegaya. (Dayaseeli Liyanage)
