Five injured in clash at Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre

At least five Covid-19 patients receiving treatment at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre were injured after a quarrel between two factions last night, police said.

When contacted, Polonnaruwa General Hospital Director, Specialist Sampath Indika Kumara said those injured were not in a serious condition.

The clash had taken place among Covid-19 patients detected at the Drug Rehabilitation Centres in Kandakadu and Senapura.

The clash was brought under control by the army personnel assigned to the centre as security officers.   

The cause of the clash has still not been identified and further investigations are being carried out by the police. (K.G. Karunaratne)
