Three men and two women were arrested yesterday from the Maharagama area with more than one kilogramme of heroin worth Rs.125 million in their possession, police said.
They said the raid was carried out by the officers of the Police Anti Corruption Unit following information received to the Maharagama Police.
The arrested suspects are residents of Maharagama. Police investigations revealed the suspects had distributed drugs among the minor staff members of the Apesksha Hospital for a long time.
The suspects were to be produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
