A young couple burnt to death due to a fire that broke out in a room of the house at Nediyakadu in Velvettithurai today, police said.
They said the couple aged 31 and 26 from the Nediyakadu village, died due to fatal burn injuries caused by the fire.
Initial investigation revealed that there were five burnt plastic bottles with a capacity of one litre containing petrol in the room where the couple was sleeping. Police said further investigations are conducted to determine the actual cause of the fire. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
