They said a bucket of the Ferris wheel had collapsed around 11.00 a.m today while they were riding on it.
The injured were admitted to the Gampaha Hospital where the mother died on admission.
The daughter, who was in critical condition, was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.
The Veyangoda Police are investigating the incident and they have recorded statements from the management of the private theme park.
The victims were identified as residents of Siyambalapitiya, Kotugoda.(Darshana Sanjeewa)
