The Embilipitiya Magistrate is currently undergoing self-quarantine for a period of 14 days due to her husband being a Naval officer of the Welisara Naval Base, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Health Services Director Dr. Kapila Kannangara said.

"The spouse of the Magistrate is a Naval officer attached to the Welisara Naval Base and had been residing at the Magistrate's Quarters from April 12 to 20, while on leave, Dr. Kannangara said.

"Although the Naval Officer has not contracted the coronavirus, the Magistrate is undergoing self-quarantine as a precautionary measure, he added.

Following the identification of a Covid-19 cluster at the Welisara Naval Base, all officers at the Base had been subjected to a Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

According to advice she received, the Magistrate had reported to duty on April 22 and only taken a few cases for hearing while other court hearings had been postponed. Dr. Kannangara said.
