Easter Sunday attack: PSC probe more popular than Kopi Kade: Speaker

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said yesterday the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attack had become more popular among the people after it was opened to the media that some people say it is popular than 'Kopi Kade' teledrama.

He said this to the media at the ceremonial opening of the proceedings of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).

The Speaker said proceedings of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) and Sectoral Oversight Committees would also be opened to the media in the future.

He said Sri Lankan Parliament was highly appreciated in the world due to the actions taken to uphold transparency.

Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri said activities of the PSC probing the Easter Sunday attack was almost completed and added that the Committee had carried out the responsibility vested in it despite whatever some people say. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
