Doping test on cricketers

The Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency (SLADA) yesterday collected urine samples from four Sri Lankan cricketers on a request made by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Accordingly, samples were collected from Kusal Mendis, Dimuth Karunaratne, Niroshan Dickwella and Skipper Rangana Herath while they were preparing for the opening Test in Galle as part of an out-of-competition testing.

In 2015, Kusal Janith Perera found guilty of a doping rule violation and was provisionally suspended but after a lengthy legal battle saw ICC withdrew their case against the Sri Lankan opener saying that there were no evidence that Perera has ever used performance enhancing substances.

The SLADA officials also tested four Bangladesh players on the request of the ICC. (CF)
