Don't bring liquids to Parliament

The parliamentary authorities have prohibited any form of liquid including water being brought into the parliamentary complex by MPs and visitors, an official said yesterday.

Sergeant-at-Arms, in charge of security, told Daily Mirror that the decision was taken for security reasons. He said there was no need to bring any form of liquid including water into the parliamentary complex.

We have everything inside including hot water,” he said and added that the decision was also linked to the security issue triggered by the incidents in which chili powder was sprayed inside the Chamber last year. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
