Divineguma Funds;Case against Basil fixed

Colombo High Court yesterday fixed the case against former minister Basil Rajapaksa and two others in connection with the misappropriation of Rs.33 million belonging to the Divineguma Deptarmnt, to be tried on November 8, 22, 28 and December 12.

The Attorney General indicted Basil Rajapaksa and the others on charges of misappropriating these funds during the presidential election campaign.

In addition to filing charges against the former Minister, the Attorney General had also charged former Economic Development Ministry Secretary Dr. Nihal Jayasinghe, former Divi Neguma Department Director General Kithsiri Ranawaka and former Divi Neguma Department Deputy Director General Bandula Tillekasiri.

They are charged under the Public Property Act No:12 of 1982.
