Sri Lanka which has already joined the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) has initiated dialogue with COVAX, the global procurement facility for vaccines to purchase COVID-19 vaccines, Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi told Parliament today.
Responding to a question raised by Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa, the Minister said the government’s effort is to initially make the COVID-19 vaccine available for 20 per cent of Sri Lanka’s population.
She said vaccines will be available as soon as they receive approval from international medical bodies including WHO. (YohanPerera and Ajith Siriwardana)
