British billionaire Sir Richard Branson has requested Sri Lanka to maintain its commitment on the moratorium on death penalty.
A government spokesman said that Sir Branson made this request in a letter to the government yesterday.
Meanwhile in a twitter massage, he said that the execution can be devastating and are never the solution.
“Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena wants to bring back the death penalty in Sri Lanka. I hope he takes a cue from the Maldives president and decides otherwise. Executions can be devastating and are never the solution. The wonderful people of Sri Lanka deserve better than this,” Sir Branson tweeted.
