Officers of the Sri Lanka Customs Narcotic Control Unit attached to Sri Lanka Customs today seized ten parcels of Kush cannabis with a street value of nearly Rs.20 million at the Central Mail Exchange (CME), Colombo, Customs Deputy Director (Legal) and media spokesman Sudatta Silva said.
He said that ten parcels containing narcotics had been addressed to a local individual.
The parcels weighing 1,300 grams were received by the Clearance Division of the CME, and those parcels were detected following receipt of information through the customs intelligence service, Mr. Silva said.
He said the customs investigations revealed the parcels contained Kush cannabis.
The parcels were received from Canada, Britain, the USA, Australia, and Italy to fake addresses in Ragama, Piliyandala, Colombo, Kandy, and Ahangama in Sri Lanka, he said.
Investigations were carried out by the officers of the Customs Narcotics Division and the parcels were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigation. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
