A COVID- 19 positive person from Enderamulla in the Mahara MOH Division is alleged to have left the country on a false medical report.

Mahara MOH Dr. Nihal Gamage said the individual concerned who possessed two contradictory PCR test reports obtained from private sector hospitals, one reporting that he was CORONA positive and the other negative, was instructed to undergo a fresh PCR test at the MOH office.

He was thereafter, subjected to a fresh PCR test on December 24 and he was informed to wait till the PCR test report was received to issue the clearance certificate to leave the country. Dr. Gamage said the report received on December 30, confirmed that the individual concerned was CORONA positive. He said that when the PHIS visited his house to hospitalise him, it was revealed that he had left the country from Katunayake International Airport on December 29.

Gampaha District Director of Health Services Dr. Migara Epa said he believed that the individual concerned must have left the country using the wrong PCR test report obtained from a private sector hospital and that it was in question as to how he left the country without recommendation of the area MOH.

The DHS said he informed the relevant authorities investigate the incident.(TILAKARATNE DISSANAYAKE)
