The Special High Court today permitted former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to travel to Singapore for medical reasons from May 15 to 19.

After having considered the request, the three-member trial-at-bar had also ordered the passport of Mr Rajapaksa to be released by the court.

Mr Rajapaksa has been accused of involvement in the misappropriating funds amounting to Rs 33.9 million in the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa Memorial Museum. The case will be taken up for hearing on May 20.  (T. Farook Thajudeen)
