Country equipped with over 10 Mn Covid vaccines

The country has so far received 10,172,800 vaccines to be used as shield against Covid-19, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Channa Jayasumana said today. 

He said the country has received a total number of 1,264,000 of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines, 7.1 million of Chinese Sinopharm vaccines, 180,000 of  
Russian-made Sputnik V vials, 128,700 US-made Pfizer-BioNTech and over 1.5 million of Moderna vaccines.

“Among the total number of vaccines, over 3.3 million were received as donations while the Government had to procure over 6.8 million of them,” he pointed out.

The State Minister also said in the next couple of weeks, it is expected to receive 5.6 million more Sinopharm vaccines from China and 1.47 million AstraZeneca vaccine vials from Japan as a donation.

According to the data by the Epidemiology Unit, over 215,000 individuals were vaccinated on Monday (July 19) and the total number of vaccinated people in the country stands at 7,573,967. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
