With vaccination drive which is underway in full swing, the people can go back to their normal lives by second week of the month of November, State Minister Channa Jayasumana said.

He expressed these views at an event in Anuradhapura today.

“The vaccination drive in the country has been outstanding that we have been able vaccinate over 50% of total population, which is a stupendous achievement when compared to other countries,” he pointed out.

“If we are to get back to normalcy, it is of utmost importance that we maintain and honour the current momentum where virus transmission in society seems slowing down, the number of cases and deaths are on the decline,” he stressed.

Thus, the State Minister invited the citizens to be responsible in the coming few weeks so that the country would gradually return to normalcy by the second week of this November.

However, Health professionals are of the opinion that the country would have reaped more benefits if the prevailing lockdown had been properly and strictly enforced. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
