A tipper truck driver died after he was shot by a Police Constable attached to the security details of State Minister S. Viyalendran in Batticaloa this evening.
Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said the incident took place opposite the State Minister's residence.
He said the State Minister was not at his residence when the shooting took place.
The police arrested the policeman along with his weapon.
The SDIG said it was revealed that there was a dispute between the deceased driver and the policeman a few days ago.
The spokesman said a special police team is deployed to conduct further investigation into the incident.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
